a NOTE FOR PARENTS...Why Performing Arts?
The benefits of performing arts education are many!
Students who participate in theater classes and performances are often more at ease in public speaking, problem solving, collaboration and more. Theater is a great place for kids to gain self-confidence and a feeling of acceptance.
Additionally, recent research show that kids who are involved in drama and music excel in math, language arts, history, geography, citizenship and standardized test scores.
Watching and participating in theater fosters literacy, stimulates interest in a wide variety of subjects, introduces diverse cultures and characters, and encourages compassion and tolerance.
Performing Arts at RRMS will offer a rich variety of performance and technical activities to enhance their skill set and appreciation of the arts.
Here are a few things you can expect for your child to take part of during the course of this class:
- engage in teamwork and collaboration;
- make decisions creatively and solve problems, when no prescribed answers exist;
- adapt to and respect others' diverse ways of thinking, working, and expressing themselves;
- understand the influence of the arts and their power to create and reflect cultures;
- analyze nonverbal communication, and make informed judgments about products and issues;
- communicate effectively, learn to create both short and long term goals, and work together to make those goals a reality!
